Stamp here please, sir…
A hanko is an ink seal used by the Japanese in the same way westerners utilise a signature. Japanese adults authorise almost all official transactions with an impression of their hanko.
Some of my printed works are impressed with my hanko seal, instead of or in addition to a western signature. My stone hanko seal was designed and carved by Sugita-san of Yamaguchi, Japan. The Sugita family also operates the Yamaguchi Youth Hostel.
